Escalation pathway

If the insurer doesn't resolve your claim, follow this order.

  1. Step 1

    Insurer grievance cell

    File a written complaint. Insurers must respond within 14 days.

  2. Step 2

    IRDAI (Bima Bharosa)

    Escalate at bimabharosa.irdai.gov.in or call 155255 if unresolved in 30 days.

  3. Step 3

    Insurance Ombudsman

    Free, binding decision for claims up to ₹50 lakh. Approach within 1 year.

  4. Step 4

    Consumer Court

    District / State / National forum based on claim value.
